Firstly, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a good one. Spending Christmas in Hervey Bay was a strange experience. It was the first time that I was away from family for the Christmas period AND I was spending it in the sun. To wake up on Christmas day to 27 degree heat, it’s just not right. Regardless though, we made the most of our day – spending it at the beach and eating.
Not like the usual Christmas morning, we woke up late at 9.30am. No presents under a tree… in fact there was no tree for that matter. Suzanne and I had agreed to no presents but she broke that agreement and got me a lovely little travel mug for when we’re on the road. I couldn’t be angry at her, I done the same last year. Anyway, we got up and decided to make some pancakes. Topped with some strawberries and chocolate spread – they were delicious.
We spent the whole afternoon at the beach, worshipping the sun. It was A LOT busier than I thought it would be. Suppose it would be a tradition to go out and enjoy the sun with family when you actually get the sun. Unlike Scotland where it’s absolutely freezing. Since it was Christmas, Suzanne wanted to make ‘sand-angels’ and a ‘sandman’ which failed miserably. We must have spent 4 hours at the beach before deciding to head up to the flat for dinner.
Once we got back to the flat, we got showered and then started making dinner. Suzanne had been pretty excited to make it for weeks before. Suzanne was the brains of the operation, she made the stuffing, carrots and roast tatties. All that was left for me to do was the steaks. For our first Christmas dinner, I’m chalking it up as a success, it was delicious. We made our own trifle for desert which exceeded expectations even though it never had the sponge. All in all, a very lovely meal. After dinner, we both got on FaceTime to our parents and then to finish off the day, we watched a film and had a wee drink; Suzanne had bought wine and I had a bottle of Jack Daniels from my Secret Santa.
Now that Christmas is over and done with, I’ve been focussing on a busy week at Enzo’s. My next day off is New Year’s Day, not that I’m complaining, I’m loving the hours!
Did you have a good Christmas? Let me know what you got up to in the comments below!
